Demon Assist Hooks have been designed to suit a large range of saltwater jigs including: Iron jigs, River2sea, FishPro, Braid, Williamson, Shimano, Braid, Raider and other metal fishing jigs. Most of the new jigs above are either balanced (weight wise) over the length of the entire jig or rear weighted to make them flutter. This means that your assist or stinger hook should be rigged at the top of the jig where the eyes are located. Why? Because the majority of fish will hit this area first, most times. Assist hook attachment can take place by two simple methods and both use the same principle. Method (A) is slide the assist loop through the top eye loop of the jig, place the loop back over the hook and pull tight. Your assist or stinger hook will hang down next to your jig.
Method (B) is where you connect a solid Demon O or Butt ring and a Demon heavy duty split ring together. Then attach the split ring to the top of your jig. Repeat (A) above, except in this case you loop the assist hook (or hooks) onto the O ring as shown below. This method means you and your assist hook(s) will stay connected to your fish even if the jig get's snagged or pulled away during the fight. If you plan to use 2 assist hooks on the one O or Butt ring then we advise you read the IGFA rules first if your tournament fishing or chasing record fish on jigs. Demon O rings and heavy duty splits rings can be purchased from our catalog. You should also think seriously about using a Demon 200 lb wind on leader kit for jigging as well if you wantr maximum results. There are many benefits in using our complete jigging rig system so read on. Finally, a word of warning. Got fish with razor sharp teeth in your area? Want to hang on to your fish? Then go straight to Demon wire assists.
